The flameproof thyristor starter is an electrical mining device. It is designed to control the start-up process of asynchronous squirrel-cage motors used in the drives of mining machinery and equipment. The starter is adapted for operation at mine faces and in the mine’s medium-voltage distribution network. The design was developed in accordance with the requirements of directive 94/9/EC (ATEX).
The certificate of conformity predestines the use of the thyristor starter in rooms with explosive atmospheres of group I, category M2. On the supply side, the starter is fitted with a manually operated isolating disconnector switch. A fast earthing switch is fitted on the outlet.
