The flameproof distribution bay is an electrical switchgear for use in underground mining distribution networks with an isolated neutral point of the supply transformer. The switchgear is an explosion-proof device and, in accordance with Polish law, can be installed in underground workings of non-methane and methane mines with levels ‘a’ and ‘b’. The autonomous design predisposes the flameproof switchgear bay to be installed in single- to multi-section switchgear systems. The following switchgear bay designs are provided for the implementation of multi-field and sectioned switchgear: feeder, feeder-drain, outflow (including line, transformer and motor) and coupling.
The intended use and the division into flameproof compartments in the applied protection ensure safe cooperation in the switchgear system. The switchgear bay provides the function of controlling the continuity of earthing of the device located on the outlet, the control of cable shields and/or the outlet tyre conductor and methanometer systems. Switchboards with intrinsically safe circuits ensure remote control, correct cooperation with technological interlockings (including methanometric ones) and data transmission.
